Round End Table Decorating Ideas

We decorate our shelves, bookcases, and even our fireplace mantels, but what about our accent tables? Decorating a coffee table is sometimes easier because they tend to be larger. However, end tables, console tables, and nightstands need love too. Getting a cohesive, clutter-free look while still keeping the tables functional can be a bit of a challenge but we've got you covered. Read on to learn more about how to style accent tables and tips to decorate accent tables of all sizes and shapes.

Console table with tray

If the table is large enough (this one is mostly for console tables or nesting tables where there's more surface space), corral items with a basket or a tray. Having one keeps things under control and looks more purposeful and put-together. You can put decorative items that play with height in a shallow basket or tray or keep necessities together like a remote, book, candle, or plant. Small accent tables usually don't need a tray or anything to group decor together but if you do add one, make sure it doesn't overwhelm the table.

Add plants or flowers. Or both!

Having some greenery anywhere in your space is a great way to add color, texture, and life.  A small potted plant is a low-maintenance way to decorate an end table. This can be a real plant or try decorating with artificial plants — it's every bit as effective. A plant or flower (or both, if you have the space) adds softness and natural beauty to your space. Try with an end table or even your nightstand. A simple arrangement or a more robust display will work depending on the size and space of your table.

End table with vases

Adding height when decorating your accent tables will keep them looking not so one-dimensional. You're adding visual interest and drawing attention to each of your deliberately placed objects. Have one piece as your "main" piece which will probably be the tallest in your grouping of decorative accents.

Lighting definitely counts as decor.

Even if all you can fit at a small accent table is a table lamp, make it one you love that makes a style statement. Table lamps are definitely functional decor. For a larger table or a console table, let it play off the other decorative pieces. The table lamp might be the tallest object, so try a smaller vase or some round decorative sculptures to complement the lamp rather than compete with it size-wise.

5

Divide a round accent table in half.

Accessorizing a round accent table might seem difficult at first, similar to styling a round coffee table. But all you have to do is visualize the surface space divided in half and style each side. For instance, one side might have a lamp and the other might have a small vase and decorative object (or vise-versa). Play the balance game, consider height, and you're all set. But leave room for what you need the table for such as coffee cups, books (which can also be decor!), or food.

6

Use tall objects behind a sofa.

The same rules apply to an accent table behind a sofa but definitely use taller objects. A console table behind a sofa is great for taller candle holders, decorative objects, lamps (or multiple table lamps), and plants because that way they can be seen.

Now it's time to give those accent tables some attention! End tables and console tables might be underrated furniture pieces but they can be brought to life and made stylish with the right decor and some styling know-how. Put your newfound design knowledge to the test; just remember to keep height, space, and size in mind when decorating your accent tables.
